This outstanding and rare medieval artifact is an authentic Byzantine bronze enkolpion cross, crafted between the 11th and 13th centuries AD at the height of the Middle Byzantine period. Measuring an impressive 8.2 cm in height, this piece served not only as a powerful emblem of faith, but also as a wearable reliquary, designed to open via original hinges, allowing the owner to carry a sacred relic close to the heart.
