Made clear

Browse medieval and Crusader rings for sale at Aurora Antiqua. Compare individual designs, sizes and condition notes to find a piece for your collection. Each original is backed by our written lifetime authenticity guarantee; the listing's proposed date and attribution should be read alongside its supporting evidence.
Choosing a medieval ring
Begin with the ring's form and decoration, then check the details that matter to your purchase. Our signet rings, seal rings, intaglio rings and cross and devotional rings collections offer other ways to browse. These collections span different periods; a motif or category name does not establish a medieval date on its own.
For fit, compare the listed measurements with a ring that fits your intended finger. Ask for an internal measurement if the hoop is irregular, and review photographs of the band, shoulders and bezel. Check for disclosed repairs, missing elements or surface losses. Choose by the actual fit rather than assuming an old ring can be altered to your size.
Understanding Crusader and medieval attributions
A medieval attribution describes a proposed historical setting. It does not identify the individual who wore the ring. In particular, religious decoration should not be treated as proof of military ownership. The British Museum's finger-ring AF.897, for example, carries Christian devotional imagery and inscriptions. That recorded example is background for reading motifs, not a comparison that authenticates our stock.
When considering a piece, distinguish its proposed date from its documented ownership history. Ask which features support the attribution and whether alternative interpretations remain possible. Read our provenance and authenticity information and medieval jewelry guide for further context.
Frequently asked questions
What is a Crusader ring?
In this collection, Crusader is an attribution used for rings associated with the crusading period or its historical context. It does not establish that a ring belonged to a crusader, knight or military order. Read the individual listing for its proposed date and the evidence behind the attribution.
Is a Crusader ring a signet ring?
Not necessarily. A signet ring is a ring made to seal, with a device cut into its bezel for pressing into wax. Crusader, in this collection, is an attribution to the crusading period or its historical context; it says nothing about whether a ring was made to seal. Some rings in this collection are signet rings, and you will also find them under medieval signet rings and medieval seal rings.
Does a cross prove that a ring belonged to a knight?
No. A cross alone does not identify an owner or prove membership of the Knights Templar or another order. Such an association needs evidence specific to the object. Religious imagery should be described separately from claims about who wore the ring.
Are these authentic medieval rings or reproductions?
They are originals; Aurora does not sell reproductions. Every listing has a provenance line that gives the piece's history as far as it is recorded. Aurora Antiqua, who runs Aurora, examines each piece himself before it is listed, and our provenance and authenticity page explains what he looks at.
Can I wear a medieval ring?
Yes, medieval rings can be worn. Bronze, silver and gold rings can be worn every day. Please wear them with care: it always depends on the individual ring, and a medieval ring can still be damaged. Check the individual ring's size, condition and any disclosed repairs, and ask for advice on that piece if its condition or fit is unclear.
How much does a medieval or Crusader ring cost?
Use the current price on each product listing. Availability and prices change as individual pieces are sold and added. Compare the material, condition, workmanship and supporting documentation rather than relying on a fixed collection-wide price range.

Before you choose
About the collection.
Original objects. The practical details.
Does every ring have a Crusader attribution?
No. This is a broad browsing collection. Each listing gives its own proposed date and cultural attribution; the collection label does not establish that a ring belonged to a Crusader.
What should I look for in the record?
Compare the proposed date, material and measurements with the photographs and condition notes. Read the known collection history, including any disclosed repairs or missing settings.
Can I wear a medieval ring?
Suitability depends on the individual ring. Check its hoop, setting, repairs and fixed size, and ask Aurora Antiqua about fit and condition if you intend to wear it.
